The deceased, who was a native of Grafton, came to Casino 45 years ago, and engaged in farming pursuits at Woodview. About four years ago he retired from his farm and took up residence in Casino. The deceased also owned farming property at Dunoon.
Some years ago Mr. Brown was thrown from his horse, and never really recovered from the effects of the accident, although his last illness was only of short duration.
The late Mr. Brown leaves a widow, who was Miss Alice Ellem, one son (James) and four daughters—Mrs. Vernon Anderson (Sydney), Mrs. C. Anderson (Casino), Mrs. Dorrington (Tomki) and Mrs. Tillett (Nimbin).
The funeral, which took place on Sunday afternoon, was headed by members of the Casino M.U.I.O.O.F., of .which Mr. Brown was a member. The service at the graveside was read by Archdeacon Lampard, and at the conclusion Bro. T. W. Tinson read the M.U.I.O.O.F. burial service.
