Adam Love was born in 1697 in Ballymoney, Antrim, Ireland to John Love and an unknown mother. In 1730, Adam and his brother Gabriel left Ireland for the New England colonies. They explored Rhode Island until they finally settled on the north west coast of Seven Men's Land (now northern Coventry). Gabriel bought land near the Connecticut line and in 1738 Adam bought lot #46 of Seven Men's Land. Adam constructed his house in the north part of his lot, which became the first establishment in what is now Rice City, Rhode Island. He married Mary. Adam died on August 10, 1765 in Coventry, Kent County, Rhode Island. He was buried at Oneco Cemetery in Oneco, Connecticut.
