Alexander Glebovich (c1255-1313) - Prince of Mstislavl (1278-1281), Grand Prince of Smolensk (1297-1313), son of Gleb Rostislavich of Smolensk.
Biography
While his uncle, Fyodor Rostislavich Chyornyi, was at the Golden Horde (from 1281), he probably reigned in the Principality of Smolensk, but after Fyodor returned from the Horde, Aleksandr Glebovich did not give him the throne, and by the will of local population became their prince (1297). Fyodor, married the first marriage (in 1261) to the daughter of Prince Vasili Vsevolodovich of Yaroslavl), established himself in Yaroslavl and in 1298 made an unsuccessful attempt to seize Smolensk, soon after which he died (1299).
In 1300, Aleksandr Glebovich and his brother Roman organized a campaign against Dorogobuzh, but were defeated by their cousin Andrei Mikhailovich Vyazemsky. In 1303,Daniil Aleksandrovich of Moscow captured Mozhaisk, in which Prince Svyatoslav Glebovich ruled.
After Roman Mikhailovich's death, the representatives of the Olgovichi dynasty, Oleg and [[Mikhail] , Aleksandr put his son Vasili on the throne of the Principality of Bryansk (according to another version, Vasili was the son of Aleksandr Romanovich , a representative of the Olgovich dynasty ). Under the assumption of L. Voitovich, the daughter of Oleg Romanovich was married to one of the princes of Smolensk, which gave them the right to claim the reing of the Principality of Bryanskr.
