Family HistoryEdit

Alexandre Theodore Pecot, born in Charenton, Louisiana, was the second son of Alfred Pecot and Helene Livie Perret. The Pecot family was quite large at the time of her birth in 1887, and nearly all Pecots lived in Louisiana. The first Pecots to arrive in Louisiana came by way of Jamaica, arriving in about 1804. Rosalie Prejean Pecot, a widowed mother of six, came to Louisiana after French refugees from Saint-Domingue (now Haiti) and the Revolution that began there in 1791 were expelled from British owned Jamaica. The British feared news of the revolution and slaughter occurring in Saint Domingue would inspire the slaves in Jamaica to do the same.

Rosalie's husband, Francois Pecot, was murdered by rebels with their eldest son, Louis Francois (called "Luc").
