Obituary

Mr Lindsay Rudder.

Macleay folk, especially those on the upper river, were shocked on Friday last to hear that Mr. Lindsay Rudder had passed away at Murwillumbah the previous night The late Mr. Rudder, aged 47 years, was born at Condobolin, and came to the Macleay with his parents when 13 years of age, he being a son of Mr. Edward Rudder, of Bellbrook. For the past 20 years he had been a valued member of the Shire Council staff. Brothers of deceased are Messrs. William Henry Rudder (Tate's Creek), Arthur Edward Rudder (Smithtown), and Allan Douglas Rudder (Sydney). Miss Muriel Isabel Rudder, of Sydney, is an only sister, One brother and three sisters predeceased him; and his wife, well remembered as Miss Selina Sydenham, also had predeceased him. The funeral, under conduct of Mr. Jos. T. Walker, took place to West Kempsey Cemetery on Sunday, Mr. Voisey officiating at a service in All Saints' Church of Eng land, and also at the graveside, where Mr. Rex. Johnston, G.U.O.O.F. Chaplain, read the service of the Order. Members of the Grand United Order formed a guard of honor as the casket was carried from the Church. Much sympathy is extended the be reaved relatives, for the late Mr. Rudder was held in the highest regard by all who knew him.

  • Rudder—Sydenham.—A very pretty wedding was celebrated at All Saints' Church of England, West Kempsey, on June 3rd, when Selina Elizabeth, third daughter of the late Mr. Charles Sydenham, of West Kempsey, was married to Lindsay, eldest son of Mr. Rudder, of Lower Macleay River. The bride who was given away by her brother, Mr. John Sydenham, was attired in white ivory satin, she also wore a wreath and veil, and carried a beautiful bouquet of cream roses and asparagus fern, the gift of a lady friend.
