Brantly Mercer Callaway, III, also known as Brantly Mercer Sr., (July 27, 1897 - January 3, 1992), son of Edgar Allan Callaway (1866-1945) and Mary Eugenia Turner (1866-1929) was a native of Wilkes County, Georgia and attended Georgia Military College, Milledgeville, and Mercer University, Macon.

After serving in World War I, he married in Wilkes Co. October 18, 1923, Maude Granade (1900-1990). The couple settled in Atlanta where Brantly was an administrator with the U. S. Public Housing Authority and both were active members of Inman Park Baptist Church. Brantly also served as an officer of the Atlanta Baptist Association and Maude taught Sunday School and was a leader in the Women’s Missionary Union. After retiring to Kennesaw, Cobb Co., they joined nearby First Baptist Church, Marietta, continuing their faithful Christian work. Maude was also a member of the Anne Hathaway Garden Club in Marietta. They are buried in the Callaway Family Cemetery, Wilkes County, Georgia
