Carol I Eitel Friedrich Zephyrinus Ludwig zu Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen of Romania was born 20 April 1839 in Sigmaringen to Karl Anton von Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen (1811-1885) and Josephine von Baden (1813-1900) and died 10 October 1914 in Sinaia of unspecified causes. He married Elisabeth zu Wied (1843-1916) 15 November 1869 in Neuwied.
