Charles Armstrong was a gamekeeper of the Parish of Clogher in County Tyrone Ireland. He was tried for poaching in 1819 at the age of 19, was sentenced to 7 years and transported to NSW on the ship 'Almorah' arriving on 22 December 1820. He was assigned to Major Lockyer's farm where he met his wife Naomi Wright and married her at St Johns Church, Parramatta on 26 August 1828. They had twelve children (including Charles Armstrong (1832-1907)).
