Biography

Christian VIII of Denmark was born 18 September 1786 in Christiansborg Palace, Copenhagen, Denmark to Frederik of Denmark (1753-1805) and Sophie Friederike von Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1758-1794) and died 20 January 1848 in Amalienborg Palace, Copenhagen, Denmark of blood poisoning. He married Charlotte Friederike von Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1784-1840) 21 June 1806 . He married Karoline Amalie von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg (1796-1881) 22 May 1815 .
