He married Margaret Bothwell Boys (1904-1979) 21 February 1931 in St. John's Cathedral, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Ancestors are from Australia.

The bridegroom is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Rudder, of Stanthorpe, and the bride is the elder daughter of the late Mr. P. G. Boys and of Mrs. Boys, Toowoomba.
