Constanza of Castile was born circa 1202 to Alfonso VIII, King of Castile (1155-1214) and Eleanor of England (1162-1214) and died 1243 in Las Huelgas, Spain of unspecified causes. Notable ancestors include Charlemagne (747-814), Hugh Capet (c940-996), Henry II of England (1133-1189), William I of England (1027-1087), Alfred the Great (849-899). Ancestors are from France, Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands.

A nun at the Cistercian monastery of Santa María la Real at Las Huelgas in 1217, she became known as the Lady of Las Huelgas, a title shared with later royal family members who joined the community.
