LL.M. Dirk van Foreest (Hoorn, August 20 1614 - There, August 3 1679) was the town council of Hoorn, (Second)secretary of Committed Councils in Holland in the Northern Quarter and governor of the Chartered West India Company. He was also top country of Heerhugowaard and the Schermer.
Dirk was born the son of Jan van Foreest (1586-1651) and Josina of Sewaert (1685-1657). On January 8 1640 he married his distant cousin Hester van Foreest (1615-1705) in Hoorn, daughter of Nanning van Foreest (1578-1668) and Machteld van Sonnevelt (c. 1585-1616). They had one son and one daughter. The son Jacob van Foreest (1640-1708) would become one of the main Hoornse regents. The daughter, Matilda van Foreest (1642-1721) would marry the very wealthy Alkmaar regent Gerard van Egmond van de Nijenburch (1646-1712), Lord of Petten en Nolmerban.
