Guideline for contributors: not a formal policy.
Nutshell This page in a nutshell: Articles which are transcriptions of personal documents should not be corrected for factual errors or minor violation of content guidelines unless it is to make the article a more faithful transcription of the original document.

As defined by the Institute of Netherlands History, "Ego-documents" is the collective name for the kind of text in which the personal life and views of the author play a central role: diaries, autobiographies, memoirs, travel logs, accounts of religious conversions and so on.[1]"

On Genealogy wikia, a document marked as an Egodocument is of the highest quality when it accurately reflects the original document. Editors should not correct factual or other errors or POVs that may be contained in the document. Content restrictions for no longer living individuals may be somewhat relaxed regarding profanity and other restricted text if it is not gratuitous and is an accurate reflection of the subject's POV.
