(Husband John Grono is shown arriving as a crew member 4/5/1799)

Born in England, 1771, arrived in Sydney with Husband John Grono on the HMS Buffalo on 4th May 1799, with 2 small children. Little is known of Elizabeth. She married John Grono on 20 July 1790 at Rotherhithe in London Dock side area. While her husband built ships and sailed to distant New Zealand in search for Seal skins, she stayed at home in the Hawkesbury to care for their family. Her name lives on, however, Elizabeth Island in Doubtful Sound, South New Zealand, is named after her. Elizabeth died at Pitt Town on 6 July 1848 and is buried with her husband at the historic Ebenezer Church. She was 77 years old.
