Elizabeth Rogers was born circa 1580 . She married Thomas Rogers (1572-1621) 1620 in Leiden, South Holland, Netherlands.

Research Notes

Elizabeth (Elsgen) _______ Rogers was the 2nd wife of Mayflower pilgrim Thomas Rogers (-1621).

Author Eugene Stratton lists her as the wife of Thomas Rogers per the 1622 poll tax for Leiden. In her care were Thomas Rogers’ three children from his first marriage who remained in Leiden after he departed on the Mayflower with his son Joseph – they were listed as John, Lysbeth (Elizabeth) and Grietgen (Margaret).

Per author Eugene Stratton, the 1622 Leiden poll tax listed the family of Thomas Rogers residing there in poverty, but apparently without his wife Alice. Instead of Alice, this family included a possible second wife named Elizabeth – or the Dutch variant Elsgen, and with the children of Thomas Rogers – son John and daughters Lysbeth (Dutch for Elizabeth) and Grietgen (Dutch for Margaret)

Per author Caleb Johnson, about 1629 or 1630 Thomas Rogers’ three children residing in Leiden, John, Elizabeth and Margaret, and the remainder of the church members residing in Leiden, came to Plymouth at colony expense. This is when the colony paid to have all remaining poor pilgrims still in Holland come join the main body at Plymouth Colony.
