Emily Baglin, born 1884, took over the licence of the Bell Inn, Burleigh, Gloucestershire on the death of her father, Charles Cole Baglin, in 1926. The pub was shut in 1965 and Laurie Lee, the author of ‘Cider with Rosie’, was there on the day it shut; Laurie Lee was interested in village life and didn't like to see the old village pubs being closed down.
