Ferdinand of León and Castile, Count of Castile, King of León, King of Castile, King of Galicia, Emperor of Spain, was born circa 1016 to Sancho III of Navarre (?-1035) and Muniadona Mayor de Castilla (995-1032) and died 24 December 1065 in León, Spain of unspecified causes. He married Sancha de León (c1020-1067) 1032 JL . Notable ancestors include Charlemagne (747-814). Ancestors are from Germany, France, Belgium.


Ferdinand the Great was the last Count of Castile but the first King of Castile. He was also King of Leon and Emperor of Spain. Like his father, he divided his properties among his sons.
