Friedrich IV. von Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf, was born 18 October 1671 in Gottorf Castle, Germany to Christian Albrecht von Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf (1641-1695) and Friederike Amalie of Denmark (1649-1704) and died 19 July 1702 at the Battle of Kliszów of battle wounds. He married Hedvig Sofia A. of Sweden (1681-1708) 12 June 1698 in Karlberg.
