Friedrich Wilhelm von Preußen was born 25 September 1744 in Berlin to August Wilhelm von Preußen (1722-1758) and Luise Amalie von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel (1722-1780) and died 16 November 1797 in Potsdam, at the age of 53 years of unspecified causes. Friedrich Wilhelm married Elisabeth Christine Ulrike von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel 14 July 1765 in Charlottenburg.
Friedrich Wilhelm married Friederike Luise von Hessen-Darmstadt on 14 July 1769 in Charlottenburg.
