Extended discussions represent collection of articles dealing with some topic of genealogical interest.

Indian Captivity Stories: This series of article deals with Indian Captivity Stories in the Walker, Cowan, and Handley families of East Tennessee. The series is built around the role of Indian captivity stories in the development of the family histories of these families, and is intended to help sort out some of the problems that have crept in related to confusions as to who these stories really dealt with.

Rutherfordiana: This series deals with the ancestry of Katherine Rutherford (c1682-1738) of the Wigton Walker lineage. Katherine is said to be related to the Rev. Samuel Rutherford aka "The Divine", and the Rev. Joseph Alleine. These relations are questioned by some, and championed by others. The purpose of the series is to bring together the information available that speaks to these genealogical relations, in an attempt to provide an objective evaluation of the connections.
