George Arbuthnot was born 9 January 1836 in Madras, India to John Alves Arbuthnot (1802-1875) and Mary Arbuthnot (1812-1859) and died 26 December 1912 of unspecified causes. He married Caroline Emma Nepean Aitchison (1848-1927) 12 October 1870 .
