The 1911 census shows the couple had been married for 44 years [sic] and had 11 children, 7 alive and 4 who had passed away. I'm still trying to work out who the 4 were but I suspect Edward, Benjamin, Betsey and William.


Biography

Early Life

George began his life as George Hyatt christened on 3 January 1847 in Sunbury-on-Thames. His parents were George, an agricultural labourer and his wife Eliza. His mother died when he was 10 in 1857 and the following year his father got remarried to an Irish lady named Catherine Donovan. In 1861 George can be found working as a rope maker living with his sister Charlotte and their aunt and uncle, William and Charlotte Kirk.

Marriage and Children

In 1869 in Sunbury, Middlesex, George married Elizabeth Penfold. His surname was spelled as Pym. The family were poor and moved from Middlesex to Surrey. George worked as a labourer most of his life. Elizabeth and George had the following children:
