George Turnbull was born 6 July 1806 in Portland Head, New South Wales, Australia to John Turnbull (1751-1834) and Ann Waugh (1778-1819) and died 26 July 1885 in Ebenezer, New South Wales, Australia of unspecified causes. He married Louisa Ann Chaseling (1809-1892) 9 October 1826 in Sackville Reach, New South Wales, Australia. Ancestors are from the United Kingdom.

In the 1828 census George, 22, is shown farming 80 acres at Portland Head with 40 acres cleared and 30 acres under cultivation. He also had 33 cattle and 2 horses. With him is his wife Louisa, 19, and daughter Ann, an infant. Farming this land with him is his single brother John Turnbull, 24.
