Obituary

MR. GEO. WHITICKER.

As briefly announced in our final edition of Thursday, last death came to Mr. George Whiticker, of Tumblong, on Thursday. Born at Jellingro 56 years ago deceased was the eldest son of that fine old pioneer, Mr R. Whiticker. As a boy, deceased learnt all that a man on the land should know. He was a great horse fancier, and Brown Joe was one of the best trotters he ever owned. Deceased was twice married, and is survived by nine children (three by the first wife and six by the second), his wife, two brothers, (Messrs William & Jno. Whiticker), and several sisters. Two of deceased's sons (Dick and Jim) served in the war. For some time past deceased had been ailing and last week Drs. Wilkin (Gundagai) and Browne (Tumut) were called in; but pronounced the case hopeless. Bright's disease being the trouble. The funeral took place on Friday afternoon, and was very largely attended. The remains were laid to rest in the C.E. cemetery, Tumblong, Rev. H. F. Champion reading the last prayers.
