Henry Alexander Cheney was born 14 September 1897 in Adelong, New South Wales, Australia to Albert Joseph Cheney (1847-1915) and Matilda Henrietta Jane Adams (1857-1931) and died 14 April 1938 Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia of unspecified causes. He married Catherine Gladys Harvey (1903-1992) 1 December 1918 in Adelong, New South Wales, Australia.

Obituary
The death occurred in Goulburn on Thursday of a very highly respected resident of Humula in Mr. Henry Alexander Cheney, of 'Sunny Vale,' Humula, at the age of 40 years. Mr. Cheney had lived in the Humula district all his life. He is survived by his widow and four sons, Messrs. Patrick, Raymond, John and Bruce Cheney, and four daughters, Misses Marjorie, Rita, Gladys and Jean Cheney. The body was brought to Wagga by mail train on Friday morning, the funeral taking place on Friday afternoon. The cortege left Mr. J. C. M'Donald's funeral parlor for Humula where interment took place at 2.30 o'clock in the Catholic portion of the Humula cemetery. The cortege was joined at Umbango by a very large number of friends, and on its arrival at the Humula cemetery, was awaited by people from all parts of the district. The Rev. Father Cochrane, of Wagga, officiated at the graveside.
The casket, which was laden with many beautiful floral tributes, was carried to the grave by Messrs. William Cheney, Alby, Joseph and Daniel Cheney (brothers), J. F. Harvey, (brother-in-law), and Robert Cheney ( nephew). The pallbearers were Messrs. Charles Galvin, Allan Nugent, Allan Wilson, Herbert Nichols, Anthony Cheney. George Post, E. Holmes and Robert M'Cracken. The chief mourners at the graveside were the bereaved widow and family mentioned above, and Messrs. William, Alby. Joseph and Daniel Cheney (brothers), Mrs. F. Stanton (sister), Mrs. R. O'Keefe (sister), Mrs. Daniel Cheney (sister-in-law), Mrs. Alby Cheney. Mrs. Joseph Cheney (sisters-in-law). Mr. J. F. Harvey (brother-in-law). Stephen Harvey (brother-in-law). Mrs. S. Harvey (sister-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. M'Pherson (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), Mr. Allan Harvey, Miss Jane Harvey, Miss Annie Harvey, Miss Eileen Cheney, Messrs. William, Albert, and John Cheney, Misses Matilda, Martha, Sadie, Joan, Nita, Isobel. and Grace Cheney, Messrs. Robert and Alister Cheney, Mrs. James Nugent. Mr. Harry Stanton (nephews and nieces), and many friends who were present from Wagga, Tarcutta, Umbango, Humula, Oberne, Carabost, Rosewood, and Ladysmith. Among the many floral tributes were wreaths from the Humula hall committee. The funeral arrangements were conducted by Mr. J. C. M'Donald, of Wagga.
