Isabel Tivey was born in 1906 in London, Middlesex. Her parents were Charles Ascot Tivey (1873-1954), an ornamenter and sign writer and his wife Lousia Blunt (1878-1971). In 1929, Isabel married George William Huckstepp (1905-1972) in Chertsey, Surrey. The couple had two daughters, both born in Chertsey:

Isabel outlived her eldest daughter who passed away in 1984 in Surrey aged fifty-four and died herself, as a widow for twenty-five years, in 1997 in Surrey aged ninety-one.
