Obituary

Mrs. Isabella Green

Mrs. Isabella Green, of Cox St., who died at the Mudgee Hospital on Tuesday morning at the advanced age of 83 years, was one of the best-known residents of Mudgee. She came of one of our most noted pioneer families, being a daughter of the late Thomas Blackman, who was one of the very first settlers at Cooyal. He also had associations with the Bathurst district.

Before settling in Mudgee she lived with her late husband (who predeceased her by nine years) at Leaning Oak, in the Yarrabin area.

Deceased enjoyed excellent health till about two years ago, when she had the misfortune to fall and fracture her hip, and she never fully recovered from the shock. She is survived by the following sons and daughters: Jack (Mudgee), Vincent (Kandos), Mrs. F. Morris (Mudgee), Mrs. Stan Gentle (Mudgee), Mrs. A. Kerney (Kandos), Mrs. Jim Kelly (Narrandera), and Mrs. T. Fittler (Granville). Mr. James Blackman, 88 years, of Granville, is a brother. There are also 26 grandchildren and six great grand-children. The funeral took place to the Catholic portion of the Mudgee cemetery on Wednesday, the Rev. Father Hilary officiating. Messrs. J. C. Swords had charge of the arrangements.
