Israel Blok (circa 1833 - 1900) was a Dutch immigrant to London where he worked as a cigar maker.



Israel Blok was born in about 1833 in the Netherlands. He immigrated to London, England with three brothers: Jacob, Aaron and Abraham. By the time of the 1881 census Israel was living at 3 Freeman Street, London and worked as a cigar maker. Israel passed away in Whitechapel in 1900 aged about sixty-seven.


Israel Blok married Adelaide (circa 1826 - 1909) and the couple had the following children:

  • Mary Blok (born circa 1862)
  • Elizabeth Blok (born 1863)
  • Aaron Blok (born 1865)
  • Jane Blok (born 1867)

By 1881, Mary worked as a cap maker, Elizabeth as a tailoress, Aaron as a bootmaker and Jane also as a cap maker. Also living with Israel and his direct family was his visiting grandson Jarail Lazarus, aged two.
