Jacob van Foreest (Hoorn, October 17 1640 - Hoorn, January 3 1708) was the town council and mayor of Hoorn, (second) Secretary of Committed Councils in Holland in the Northern Quarter and governor of the United East India Company. He was also top country of Heerhugowaard, the schermer, The Beemster and the Purmer.
Jacob was the son of Dirk van Foreest (1614-1679) and Hester van Foreest (1615-1705). On March 15 1671 he married with Maria Sweers (1649-1720) in hoorn, daughter of Jan Sweers and Antonetta Merens. They had seven children, three daughters and four sons. His sons Dirk and Nanning will maintain their father's footsteps as regents.
