Civil War Service

The date of death given is October 1861. However, this is also the date of the creation of the 35th Georgia Infantry Regiment that had a James N. Blackstock. The men of the 35th were recruited in the counties of Troup, Haralson, Bartow, Walton, Chattooga, Harris, and Gwinnett. James' brother Moses died in 1861, the date known at the time of this writing is 6 Feb 1861, which was months prior to the beginning of hostilities at the Battle of Fort Sumter.
