He married Ann Janet Hearne (1875-1962) 11 September 1901 in Bigga, New South Wales, Australia.
A public meeting was held at Mr. James Marks's store on Saturday, Oct. 10, for the purpose of forming a progress association. There was a large attendance. Mr. O. S. Chudleigh was elected to the chair. It was decided unanimously to form an association, to be called the Bigga and Blanket Flat Association. The election of oflicers resulted as follows :—President, Mr. F. McGuiness ; vice presidents, Messra. F. Hearne and W. Picker; treasurer, Mr. J. Hailstone ; secretary, Mr. James Marks. Over 60 gentlemen gave in their names as members. The annual subscription was fixed at 2s. A code of rules for the guidance of the assoclation was then drawn up and adopted. The meetings are to be held fortnightly. With a vote of thanks to the chairman the meeting terminated.
