Jan Foreest (Alkmaar, October 4 1586 - Hoorn, October 27 1651) was town council and mayor of Horn, A member of the "Heren XIX" of West India Company behalf Chamber of WIC in the Northern Quarter(Second) Secretary of Committed Councils in Holland in the Northern Quarter and councilor of the Supreme Court of Holland and Zeeland. He was also top country of Heerhugowaard and schermer.
Jan Foreest was the son of Jacob van Foreest (1556-1624) and Maria van Egmond of Nije Burch (1558-1632). He studied literature and law at the University of Leiden. On October 4 1607 he married with Josina van Segwaert (1585-1657) in Dordrecht, daughter of Meynard of Segwaert and Antonia Wenssen. They had five children: three daughters and two sons. The oldest son Dirk. Dirk would in his father's footsteps as Hoorns regent.
