Janet went Crossby Girls School and then onto the Scunthorpe Grammar School (1948 to 1955) where in her final year she was appointed as head girl.
Janet was a keen Girl Guide at The First Frodingham Guides and was awarded the Queens guide award. As a guide, she was one of only two girl guide representatives of the Scunthorpe area at the Queen Elizabeth Coronation in 1953.
Following this, Janet completed her teaching qualifications at Homerton College, Cambridge (1955 to 1957).
Janet was a assistant primary teacher at Grange Lane Junior School Scunthorpe (1957 to 1961).
Michael & Janet were married on July 30th 1959. Their first house was at 11, Wynmoor Road, Scunthorpe. The family then moved to Leeds.
Janet was a teacher at Gateways Preparatory School Harewood (1967 to 1971).
In 1971, Michael was appointed as Secretary to the CSE board based in Birmingham. This initiated a move to a new house at 16, Athelstan Way, Coton Green, Tamworth, Staffs. B79 8LB.
Janet worked at Hanbury's Farm Primary School, Tamworth (1972 to 1990) until taking early retirement. At work she specialized as a remedial teacher.
After retirement, she became a governor for the school.
Janet died in March 1999.
