Janet Shirley Allan (18 December 1793-1884)


Early LifeEdit

Janet Shirley Allan was born on 18 December 1793 in Alloa, Clackmannan, Scotland. Her parents were James Allan (born circa 1752) and Elizabeth Colvin. Her siblings were Elizabeth, Alexander, James, Margaret, Helen, Mary, Samuel Thomas and George. Janet was the youngest child. James and Elizabeth were married in 1777 and all the children were born in Alloa, as was James. However, the marriage took place in Larbert, Midlothian, Scotland where Elizabeth Colvin was born in about 1756. Janet's name was also sometimes spelled Janett. Her father's place of residence was The Hall, Stirling, Stirlingshire, Scotland.

Marriage & ChildrenEdit

Janet Shirley Allan married Edward Walter Blunt on 9 March 1813. The couple had the following children:

  • Elizabeth Maria Blunt
  • Harriet Blunt
  • Charles Harris Blunt (1825-1900)
  • James St John Blunt (1827-1889)
  • Arthur Blunt (1829-1904)
  • Alexander Colvin Blunt (1831-1920)

Edward Walter Blunt (1779-1860) left Janet a widow for twenty-four years.
