Johann Philipp von Sachsen-Altenburg, Herzog von Sachsen-Altenburg, was born 25 January 1597 in Torgau, Saxony, Germany to Friedrich Wilhelm I. von Sachsen-Weimar (1562-1602) and Anna Maria von Pfalz-Neuburg (1575-1643) and died 1 April 1639 in Altenburg, Thuringia, Germany of unspecified causes. He married Elisabeth von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel (1593-1650) 25 October 1618 in Altenburg, Thuringia, Germany.
