Johanna Geertruida Theodora Hesselink was born on January 1, 1840 in Kotten, Winterswijk, Netherlands to Gradus Hesselink and Harmina Klomps. She lived on the Hesselink farm (Hesselink, Kotten 17) in Kotten, Winterswijk, Netherlands until 1849. She immigrated with her parents and sister to the United States in 1849. Her father started a farm in Clymer, New York. She married Jan Willem "John William" te Kolste (Kolstee) in 1856. Her husband was a farmer and Johanna lived in Clymer, New York with her family until her death in 1905. She is buried in Holland Cemetary, Clymer, New York.
