John Marhsall Slaton (December 25, 1866 - January 11, 1955) was an American lawyer and politican, serving as a member of the Georgia General Assembly, Senate and as 60th Governor of Georgia. He died at the age of 88 and is buried in the Grant Mausoleum at Oakland Cemetery, Fulton County, Georgia.
Early Life[]
Slaton was born near Greenville, Meriwether County, Georgia son of William Franklin Slaton 1831-1916) and Nancy Jane Martin (1834-1901). He married in DeKalb County, Georgia on July 12, 1898 Sally Frances Grant (1870-1945) of Troup County, Georgia.
