John Perry was born 13 July 1845 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia to Julius Perry (c1816-1902) and Caroline Ekhardt (-c1896) and died 10 May 1922 in Pittwater, New South Wales, Australia of unspecified causes. He married Susan McAuslan Alston (c1846-1917) 15 November 1870 in Paddington, New South Wales, Australia.


His farm was called "Alstonville", after his wife, which then gave its name to the town of Alstonville, New South Wales.
