He married Jane Noakes (1846-1915) 13 February 1873 in Cambewarra, New South Wales, Australia.

Obituary
MR. JOHN VIDLER
Mr. John Vidler, aged 89 years, a resident of the Alstonville and Chillcott's Grass districts for the past 23 vears, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. S. Smith, Alstonville, late yesterday afternoon. Mr. Vidler was a native of the South Coast, he was born at Campbelltown and lived for many years at Cambewarra and was in the South Coast district until coming to the Richmond River district. Deceased was one of the oldest members of the G.U.O.O.F. in the State. Mr. Vidler is survived by a son and daughter. The son is Mr. George Vidler (Chill cott's Grass) and the daughter is Mrs. S. Smith, Alstonville. The funeral will leave the Alstonville Methodist Church to-day at 2 p.m. for the Alstonville cemetery. A service will be held in the church at 1.45 p.m.
