He arrived in New South Wales on 21 December 1821 on the Minerva as a convict.

Joshua Boobey, a very old resident of Gundagai, died last Sunday afternoon. Deceased, who had resided in Gundagai about 36 years, and had been married five times, is said to have been 108 years of age. Joseph Baker, who had been a mate of deceased's, and who had known him for half a century, states that, when he first met him, he was apparently between 50 and 60 years of age, and was at that time known as Old Josh Booby.
