Son of Walter Walker and Lois Lawrence of Massachusetts.

Josiah was born 3 November 1789 in Dalton, Berkshire County, Massachusetts.

Josiah married Eunice Wiswell (1793-1846), daughter of John Wiswell (1753-1838) and Lois Worseley.

They were married on 13 August 1815 in Massachusetts or possibly New York.

Their first three children, Josiah Irr, Justus, and Albert were all born in Onondaga County, New York.

Around 1823, the family moved to western Pennsylvania, probably Erie Co. or Crawford Co.

Later, they removed to Ashtabula County, Ohio where Josiah remained until his death in 1873.
