Harry Lippelmann

Harry Lippelmann

Julia Odelia Martin, the first child of Fred Martin and the former Susan Rauser, was born in St. Louis on August 11, 1881. At the time, her parents lived with Fred's mother and father, Joseph and Elise Martin, at 2407 DeKalb Street.

In about 1905, Julia married Harry Lippelmann, a clerk and bookkeeper who was born in St. Louis on September 11, 1880 to German immigrants Johann H. "Herman Henry" and Karoline Wilhelmine Lippelmann.[1] In the first five years of their marriage, the couple moved to 1926 North Market Street, 2324A Montgomery Street, 2117A E. John Avenue, and 2245 Alice Avenue. The couple had two children: Harry W. (1906) and Vernon (1911).

In about 1915, Harry, described as tall and slender, was promoted to a position as office manager for St. Louis Oil Company and moved the family to 4216 Athlone Avenue, then, a year later, to a rented house at 4238A Warne Avenue.

In the 1920s, the family continued moving, to 4514 Fair Avenue, 2115A E. Fair Avenue and 4033 Fair Avenue. Harry took new positions with Vulcan Gas Company and St. Louis Gasoline & Fuel Company.

On September 3, 1960, when Harry and Julia lived at 2007 E. Fair Avenue, Harry died of a heart attack after being admitted to Missouri Baptist Hospital, 919 N. Taylor Avenue. He was buried on September 7 at Zion Cemetery, 7401 Saint Charles Rock Road. Julia, who later moved to 7701 Natural Bridge Road, died on October 5, 1961, following a medullary stroke and a six-day stay at Normandy Osteopathic Hospital in Normandy, Missouri. Julia was buried at Zion Cemetery on October 9.
