Before coming to Kansas, Lee’s father had lived in Missouri, but his mother was from Chicago, Illinois. The young couple made their home in Trego County, Kansas where they lived in a sod house. It was in this home, Leander would spend his early years with his younger sister and brothers along with an older step brother and step sister.
When Lee was about ten years old, they all moved to Smith County, Kansas to live as a farming family.
In March of 1911, he married E. Irene WALKER, whose parents were from Ohio.

Lee died in 1978 in Yuma County, Colorado.
