I know little of Lorenzo Dow Scott. He apparently went by Dow and was a farmer. He seems to be best known for dying in the Civil War. Family lore has held that he was shot on August 19, 1864 near Dalton, Georgia, dying 9 days later at a hospital. The family slave with him supposedly returned home to convey this info to the family.

His exact burial location is unknown. He had a marked grave in the Union Cemetry in Dalton, but the UDC attempted to re-inter his and many other Confederate bodies to a Confederate Cemetery in Resaca but got them mixed up. There is also a marker for him at Buck Creek Methodist Church Cemetery in Screven County, but I am not sure if he is actually buried there or just memorialized. For now, his location is unknown.
