Biography
Madeleine de La Tour d'Auvergne was born 1498 to Jean III de La Tour d'Auvergne (1467-1501) and Jeanne de Bourbon-Vendôme (1465-1511) and died 28 April 1519 Florence, Italy of plague. She married Lorenzo II de' Medici (1492-1519) 2 May 1518 JL in Château d'Amboise, Amboise, France.
Madeleine de La Tour d'Auvergne was a penultimate representative of the senior branch of the house de LaTour d'Auvergne.
She died in Italy together with her husband due to plague, having just given birth to a daughter, the future Queen of France.
Madeleine's elder sister Anne de LaTour, Comtesse de Boulogne, who inherited Auvergne and married John Stewart, 2nd Duke of Albany, outlived Madeleine by five years but died childless, after which the Counties of Auvergne and Boulogne as well as the barony of La Tour passed to Madeleine's daughter Catherine de Medici and then to the French Crown.
