Early Life
Marrigje Jans Thalen was born on 23 May 1793 in Giethoorn, Overijssel. Her father, not mentioned on her marriage certificate, was Jannes Thalen, a fisherman. Her mother was Merrigje Gerrits Smit. On Marrigje's marriage certificate, it is noted that her mother had died on 26 October 1814 in Nijeveen, Drenthe. Using those details, her death certificate has not been located.
Marriage
On 19 November 1815 Marrigje married Albert Jans Hoogstede (1783-1848), a farmer in Vollenhove, Overijssel. The couple were married for 32 years and seven children, including a stillborn daughter and a son who died in infancy.
Children
Later Life
Marrigje was widowed on 25 January 1848 when Albert died aged 65. Marrigje remained in Vollenhove, where she died on 15 June 1871 aged 81.
