Mary "Maria" Borden was born 21 July 1744 in Bordentown, Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States to Joseph Borden (1719-1791) and Elizabeth Rogers (1725-1807) and died 12 March 1773 New Castle, New Castle County, Delaware, United States of unspecified causes. She married Thomas McKean (1734-1817) 21 July 1763 in New London Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
Mary Borden (Maria) was the first wife of US Founding Father Thomas McKean (1734-1817), one of the Signers of the US Declaration of Independence. They married in 1763, and lived at 22 The Strand in New Castle, Delaware. They had six children: Joseph, Robert, Elizabeth, Letitia, Mary, and Anne. Mary Borden McKean died in 1773 and is buried at Immanuel Episcopal Church in New Castle.
