Obituary
There passed away at the Parkes Hospital, on the 30th November last, Mary Ellen, the wife of Mr. Edmund Dumbrell. The deceased was the eldest daughter of Mr. W. Burless, who was formerly an old resident of Kiama, where the deceased was born on 28th September, 1853. About two years ago Mrs. Dumbrell contracted on affection of the liver, and for which she underwent an operation at St. Vincent's Hospital, Sydney. The trouble, however, was not thoroughly eradicated, and from that time until her death she at times suffered the most intense pain. The pains only came on periodically, and the last that proved fatal took her while she was temporarily at home with her family. She was immediately taken back to the hospital where she expired rather unexpectedly. Her remains were interred in the Church of England Cemetery at Parkes on the following day amidst a number of sorrowing friends. The deceased was of a genial disposition and made lasting friends wherever her lot was cast. An affectionate husband and nine children (two sons and seven daughters) are left to mourn their irreparable loss.—Com.
