Windsor and Richmond Gazette, Friday 29 November 1929, by George G Reeve
This Matthew Everingham was always referred to as 'Pepper Mat.,' because he habitually wore trousers of the pattern known at one time as 'pepper and salt' tweed cloth. The latter named Matthew Everingham was one of the five sons of Mr. William Everingham (obit. 1859), whose first wife was Miss Jane Chaseling. He and his wife and son are buried in St. Matthew's churchyard, Windsor, where a stone commemorates them. The former died at the same age as his grandfather, the pioneer Matthew James Everingham, on August 16, 1883, aged 48 years.
