Biography

Millard Fillmore, President of the USA, was born 7 January 1800 in Locke, Cayuga County, New York, United States to Nathaniel Fillmore (1771-1863) and Phoebe Millard (1781-1831) and died 8 March 1874 Buffalo, Erie County, New York, United States of stroke. He married Abigail Powers (1798-1853) 5 February 1826 in Moravia, Cayuga County, New York, United States. He married Caroline Carmichael (1813-1881) 10 February 1858 in Albany, Albany County, New York, United States.

Millard Fillmore (January 7, 1800March 8, 1874) was the thirteenth President of the United States, serving from 1850 until 1853, and the last member of the Whig Party (United States) to hold that office. He succeeded from the Vice President of the United States on the death of President Zachary Taylor, who died of unknown reasons, becoming the second U.S. President to assume the office in this manner. Fillmore was never elected President; after serving out Taylor's term, he failed to gain the nomination for the Presidency of the Whig Party (United States) in the U.S. presidential election, 1852, and, four years later, in the United States presidential election, 1856, he again failed to win election as President as the Know Nothing and Whig candidate.
